The Hills are Alive… is an exhibition of drawings and paintings combining Aquilina’s love of cinema, music and nature. The works depict locations from the artist’s favourite films such as Dante’s Peak, the 1997 volcano disaster film. The titles of the pieces reference popular music and invite audiences to imagine them as the soundtrack to the landscapes.

Laura Aquilina is a longing standing member of Blue Room, Bluecoat’s inclusive art programme with learning disabled and neurodivergent artists. Since 2021, she has been taking part in the Studio Me artist development project which aims to navigate some of the barriers to professional development and supports Blue Room artists to develop creative and professional skills.
