Bluecoat played a key role in the founding of, and support of LAAF. It acted as the main hub for bringing Arab arts and culture to Liverpool. This creative partnership has been continuous ever since, with LAAF based in the building and part of Bluecoat’s Creative Community.
For their 25th anniversary in 2023, the festival brought a joyous afternoon in our building, from dance and music workshops to storytelling.

- 12 – 1pm: Workshop - Introduction to Arabic Music with Ahmed Mukhtar and Ruba Hillawi, in the Performance Space. (£5 / Pay What You Can)
- 12.30 – 1:45pm Storytelling for 0-8 years with LibLib Publishing in the Garden Room.
- 1.30 – 2:30pm: Adult beginners dabke workshop with Fares Farraj in the Performance Space.
- 1.45pm – 2:30pm Storytelling for 0-8 years with LibLib Publishing, in the Garden Room.
- 3-4pm: Learn to play Maqamat by Oud workshop with Ahmed Mukhtar and Ruba Hillawi, in the Performance Space. (£5 / Pay What You Can)
