Wooden Stairs to Bluecoat's Concert Hall

1974

The wooden staircase is the oldest surviving one in the building. It was restored after the Second World War as part of a scheme to repair the bomb-damaged building. Some of its oak timbers are original and the stairs, together with the flagstone ground floor, give a sense of what was once the main approach to the first floor. This photograph was taken in 1974.
