The 2017 Lowry Lounge: The Lighthouse Invites the Storm
2017
Presented at the Bluecoat at the end of the conference's fist day, The Lighthouse Invites the Storm was a text/sound work commissioned from Wirral-based artist Alan Dunn as an immersive experience inspired by Lowry’s life. Working in collaboration with writer Jeff Young and musician Martin Heslop and two singers, Jack Roberts and Mersey Wylie, the performance interwove Lowry’s writings, the local maritime landscape, and stories gleaned from Wirral-based seafarers from Mariners’ Park retirement village in Wallasey, overlooking the Mersey, where the piece was presented the following day to close the 2017 Lounge.
