Liverpool’s historic twinning with the German city of Cologne was maintained by the Bluecoat through a cultural exchange programme with the BB Gallery that started in 1989. It was resurrected as Eight Days A Week through a collaboration with art critic Jürgen Kisters in 1998, with a programme in Cologne and another in 2000 in Liverpool, presented at venues across the city. The partnership has been maintained by Liverpool artist (and Bluecoat tenant) Pete Clarke, and Georg Gartz in Cologne, as an artist-led initiative.
