Herbert Tyson Smith interview
1965
A recording of Liverpool artist Herbert Tyson Smith discussing his career and time at Bluecoat, where the sculpture studio he established in 1927 was a feature of the building's artistic life for many decades. The interview, courtesy of architect George Hall who was also a Bluecoat tenant and member of the Sandon, was recorded in the Sandon lounge in 1965 and includes Tyson Smith's reminiscences of visiting Paris before the First World War, Jacob Epstein's controversial sculpture Genesis coming to Bluecoat and the colourful social life in the building.
