Four artists at the forefront of the emerging Black Art movement in the UK- Sonia Boyce, Eddie Chambers, Tom Joseph and Keith Piper - were featured in this exhibition, the start of Bluecoat's engagement with art exploring issues of race and identity in their work. Boyce, Chambers and Piper subsequently worked with Bluecoat, both as artists and curators.
