Selected by the Painters and Sculptors Group Committee of the Sandon Studios Society and funded by the Arts Council, the exhibition was held at Bluecoat during the building's postwar restoration. It demonstrated that the Sandon artists were still active, and Frank Lambert wrote in the catalogue, 'As a centre for the arts, satisfying the interests both of professional and layman, Bluecoat Chambers is now unique in England.'
