Bed-In at the Bluecoat, Week 2
2010
A re-staging of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Bed-In for Peace, this programme of 62 events over 62 continuous days, 9 October - 9 December 2010, marked the 30th anniversary of Lennon’s death and what would have been his 70th birthday. Proposals were invited from artists and the public to do 'something for a better world,' using a large bed, positioned in Bluecoat's foyer area, the Hub. The Week 2 programme is documented here.
Ono, who performed at Bluecoat in 1967 and again in 2008 said, 'I think it is wonderful they will be doing Bed-In. There should be many lively discussions with the visitors to the bed and the couple in the bed, just like there were at the time John and I did it. There is much to discuss in terms of war and peace now'.
