Liverpool artist Leroy Cooper first worked with Bluecoat in 1987, participating in 2nd Site, a poetry and sculpture project involving school children in the creation of an installation in the gallery.
For Writing on the Wall's Black History Month this year, he returns to Bluecoat on Wednesday 30 October at 6.30pm to talk about his new book, Back In The Day Vol. 1, a fascinating selection from the many photographs of the Liverpool 8 community he has taken since the 1980s. Candid, poignant and captivating, his images reflect an empathy with his subjects.
